Otestai Osaa (Kipsigis for Continue Prayers)
A quick update and sigh of relief... It's 3:30 pm here (8:30 am EST) and about 2 hours ago, Scottie moved from Post Op. to the step down observation, where I believe he will stay for a few days. He woke up and the first thing he said was, "Praise Jesus." He's slowly coming back around, and we are asking for continued prayers for recovery. He's in the Ortho. wing in the only private room. The kids and Marcie are doing well, and we will update later. Love and thanks to all, Avery

Hey Avery: Of all of the prayers from Africa you so appropriately share, my guess is that an equal number or more are coming from here, too. Tell Scottie to hang in there, to keep the faith (and all of you do the same). Keep us posted. RP
ReplyDeleteWe love you guys and are so glad the surgery went well. We pray for complete recovery and for you guys as well. I bet this compares nothing to your food poisoning story from last year :). Margaret
ReplyDeletePraying for all of you! Please take care.

ReplyDeleteWe were so glad to hear that Scott came through the surgery well. As I read your blog today, I was reminded of passages my grandmother had marked in the family Bible (which she gave to me just before she passed on) and I pulled it out to read some of those passages again. Between the pages were little slips of paper in her handwriting (some barely legible as time has faded the ink). On the little papers, she had written categories like "When you're sick, read..." followed by several scriptures which she found uplifting. I found four of them which particularly touched my heart as I thought of you.
"For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds", saith the LORD. (Jeremiah 30:17)
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24)
"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24)
I hope these words will provide a little sweetness in your lives today. You will all remain in our prayers.
God Bless,

Wow!!! God is good! So glad things are looking up and to think we could actually share a Krispy Kreme moment together again is amazing:)You know me I was wondering if this might allow him to eat some of his old favorite foods again but didn't want to ask:) We have been praying for all of you! Jacob said the sweetest prayer on his own for Mr. Scottie last night-amazing how little ones have their own way of sharing in trying to help when the rest of the family is so worried. We will continue checking the blog and send you our love!

It is so obvious that "the joy of the Lord is your strength." (Neh. 8:10). It shines through even in the midst of pain and uncertainty. You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Scottie, to the children, to Marcie (whom I do not know but I really appreciate!) and to you. We are praying still!
Love, L&S
